Feeling Snappy?
Enter the Friends of the Ironbridge Gorge Museum’s Second Photographic Competition

The Friends of the Ironbridge Gorge Museums are once again calling all amateur photographers. Following on from last year’s inaugural Photographic Competition the Friends have launched their second competition with some great prizes.

There’s no doubt that the county of Shropshire has some of the most beautiful gardens and they provide the perfect inspiration for some amazing photographs. Perhaps you have taken a stunning image of Shrewsbury’s Quarry in full bloom? Or a stylish snap of a colourful rhododendron bush? Or maybe your camera captured the deer frolicking at Attingham Park? Using the Gardens of Shropshire as the theme, entrants can submit a maximum of three prints (maximum size A4) taken in 2012.

There are two age groups for entries: Under 18 and 18 years and over. Cash prizes will be awarded to the winner, second place and runner up in each category: £60 (winner), £40 (second) and £25 (runner up) for the Under 18s and £100 (winner), £50 (second) and £25 (runner up) for over 18s. The competition is open to amateur photographers only.

Sheila Black, Chairman of the Friends, said: “Following the success of the first Friends Photographic Competition we’re delighted to be asking amateur photographers to showcase their very best images once again. We are sure that the extremely high standard of entries we saw last year will be repeated with the wonderful Gardens of Shropshire theme.”

The closing date for the competition is 31 July 2012 and photographs which have won prizes in other competitions are ineligible.

Prizes will be awarded at a special presentation evening in September and a selection of the winning entries will be displayed in the Footprint Gallery at Jackfield Tile Museum. The winners will also be featured in the Ironbridge Quarterly magazine.

Entry forms are available from Judy Mondon, The Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust, Coalbrookdale, Telford, TF8 7DQ or can be downloaded at www.ironbridge.org.uk. Terms and conditions apply – see website for details.
