Drive to recruit Telford foster carers
13th April 2016

Telford & Wrekin Council has a proven track record in placing children with foster carers in the borough.

The Council always looking for more people to care for our children. The borough is in need of carers who can take on teenagers, up to three children from the same family, people who have experience of looking after disabled children and those who can offer young people a home until they are 18.

They are keen to hear from existing foster carers who currently foster with an independent agency and are considering fostering for Telford & Wrekin. Placing children with internal carers is always the preferred option.

Councillor Paul Watling, cabinet member for children, young people and families, said: “Our foster carers offer local looked after children safe placements where they can receive the support and help they need.

“We are always keen to recruit new foster carers so that we can save money by not placing children with agencies or outside of the borough.

“Many people want to foster local children but don’t think they have the skills to foster, don’t rule yourself out from enquiring – come along to the recruitment event or get in touch with the team for more information and to find out if you’re suitable.”

If anyone is interested in fostering for the Council and has a spare room, they are invited to the drop in event on Thursday 14 April anytime between 6pm–8pm at the Ramada Hotel Telford, TF3 4NA. Foster carers and staff will be there on the night to ask any questions.
