The council has released its latest monthly video to keep residents up to date with progress on the installation of fibre broadband.
Superfast Telford was officially launched in July and will ultimately result in 98 per cent of households in the borough having access to superfast fibre broadband.
It is a £5.6m partnership between Telford & Wrekin Council, BT and the Government’s Broadband Delivery UK programme.
The new video highlights how the council holds regular meetings with every relevant utility company to ensure work on the borough’s roads is carefully planned and co-ordinated so that disruption and closures are kept to an absolute minimum.
The council and its partners are committed to delivering Superfast Broadband as quickly and easily as it can, with the first areas Dawley, Oakengates and Great Bolas starting to benefit in the New Year..
The network being installed by Openreach – BT’s local network business - will enable people to choose from a wide range of broadband service providers.
Councillor Shaun Davies, cabinet member for Customer Services, said: “This is a major engineering project which requires the installation of 430km of sub duct and new fibre so inevitably there will be some disruption going forward.
“We would like to apologise to anyone who is affected by the work but the good news is that it will ultimately result in high speed coverage for our residents and businesses.”
Steve Henderson, BT’s regional manager for broadband partnerships, said: “Rolling out faster fibre broadband in Telford and Wrekin is a huge and often complex engineering operation.
“Our project teams are working hard and are determined to get the job done as quickly as possible, while keeping disruption to local residents, shoppers, motorists and visitors to an absolute minimum – especially in the run up to Christmas.”

All the latest information on the programme can be found on the partnership’s website including a map searchable by postcode which will give an idea of what is happening when. A link to the video is here:
