Residents at Blists Hill Victorian Town, will step back in time and share with a wealth of traditional celebrations and entertainment from the 1800s.

Experience the atmosphere as you explore the Victorian town; listen to stories of life more than 100 years ago in the cosy cottages, enjoy seasonal music from bands and choirs and ride on a horse drawn cart. You can also visit Father Christmas in his wonderful grotto and see and pet his reindeer on The Green before they start their mammoth journey around the world on Christmas Eve.

Children can try a wide range of traditional activities in the Goods Shed such as printing Christmas cards, making paper-chain decorations, writing letters to Father Christmas and fun quizzes about fascinating Christmas facts. A ‘perfect Victorian Christmas card scene’ will be on display centred on a beautifully decorated Christmas tree surrounded by presents.

Mr Morton’s Christmas Celebrations will once again see the magnificent Iron Rolling Mill transformed into a place for a ‘workers Christmas party’. Here you will be able to enjoy a wide variety of seasonal entertainment such as Christmas songs, a mini-pantomime and sing-a-long with carol singers.

An unusual selection of Christmas gifts will also be on offer in the museum’s shops including traditionally made cast-iron paperweights and doorstops, handmade plaster decorations, perfumed soaps, hand printed gift wrap and traditional sweets.
