Christmas gifts all wrapped up

One Shropshire company is hoping the embarrassing moments for men who are often seen standing looking a little unsure in the shops or women who end up buying another bottle of aftershave has been brought to an end with the launch of a new service.

Big Little Things, run by Sarah Knowles and Fran Robinson, at Apley Farm Shop and also online www.biglittlethings.co.uk is now offering a new "gift wish list" service. It means someone can go and choose the gifts, homewares and flowers they would ideally like to receive on Christmas Day from their loved one and Big Little Things will create the wishlist. Their partner, friend or family member just simple pops into the newly opened shop at Norton, between Shifnal and Bridgnorth, and give their partner's name. The happy shopper is then presented with the choice of gifts to see before making their choice for Mrs Knowles and Mrs Robinson to wrap in front of them ready to put under the tree.

Joint business owner, Mrs Knowles, from Telford, said: "We hope our new service will take the headache out of shopping for so many people and most importantly prevent men and women opening gifts they really don't like or want but are too polite to say.
"The idea is simple. Shoppers can come and choose what they would like for Christmas and we put it on their very own ‘gift wish list’.
"The other friends and family can come to the shop and simply give the person’s name. They can then choose items from the list. We even wrap the gift too!”
Co-owner, Fran Robinson, from Shrewsbury, added: “Our shop offers a wide variety of floristry services including fresh cut flowers, ready-made flower arrangements and gifts for big and little people, such as our personalised gifts which are already popular.
"The ‘gift wish list’ keeps the element of surprise and magic which we all enjoy at Christmas, without the disappointment of not receiving what we might really want!"
Mrs Knowles added: "Everyone has such busy lives these days with young families and full time jobs so the convenience to be able to park outside and pop in and know what you are collecting is something they want will hopefully make the forthcoming month a little less stressful for people."

Big Little Things is open 7 days a week at Unit 4 Apley Farm shop, Norton, Shifnal on the A442 between Telford and Bridgnorth. Alternatively shop online at www.biglittlethings.co.uk or contact the shop 07811343558.
