Butchers Launch Meat Boxes
2nd March 2014

A butchers in Telford has launched a new scheme to deliver boxes of fresh meat to your door, believed to be the first of its kind in Shropshire.
G. N. Badley & Sons, in Trench, will run the scheme in a similar way to the popular vegetables boxes offered by farm shops across the UK, which are delivered weekly.
At the family-run butchers customers can buy a one off box in a variety of styles or from March 1 they will be able to sign up to a regular subscription of deliveries.
Managing director Simon Badley said: “We are one of only three butchers in the area that offer online ordering, which already sets us apart, but from speaking to our customers we know there is more we can do for them, so we want to do it.
“This will hopefully transform their shopping habits and they can always be sure that they have fresh meat, prepared nearby and ready to cook for dinner.
“It saves the hassle of having to make sure you get something out of the freezer to defrost the night before and also means people can be safe in the knowledge that they always have fresh, good quality meat.”
The butchers in Gibbons Road offers packages including meat box for two, meat box for the family and meat box for beef lovers.
The meat box for two includes 700g rolled shoulder of pork joint, 500g British lean minced beef, 500g British lean diced beef, two lots of 200g British pork loin steaks, two 200g British best rump steaks, two boneless British chicken fillets, six classic homemade pork sausages and six slices of unsmoked dry cured back bacon.
Bosses hope to launch a variety of other options of meat box combinations in the coming months.
In addition, the boxes are the first products to carry the new G. N. Badley & Son logo since a rebranding of the business this month.
The shop has been open for almost four decades and was set up by Mr Badley’s father Keith, who has sadly passed away.
Mr Badley now runs the shop with his mother Kay.
She added: “We have a lot of regular customers who come into the shop. Whilst we love seeing them and talking to them about life, this is a way we can interact with people who aren’t able to come to us.
“It will be great for older people and also for those who are too busy to go to a local shop for good quality meat, but also don’t want to buy it at the supermarket.
“I’m really pleased that we are able to offer this to our customers.”
