A butchers in Telford has launched a new range of products which will help to raise money for a charity set up in memory of Shropshire teenager Georgia Williams.

G. N. Badley & Sons has developed a series of new barbecue meat boxes and £1 from the sale of each box between now and the end of the year will go to the The Georgia Williams Trust.

The idea came about because Simon Badley, a director at the butchers in Gibbons Road, Trench, also works in the performing arts and music department at New College Telford, where Georgia was a student.
He said: “It is almost a year since Georgia tragically killed and I wanted to help this great local charity because they do so much for young people in the area.
“Through my work I know how Georgia’s death affected so many people but for something like this incredible trust to come out of such a horrific situation, you can’t help but want to help.

“A lot of people are raising money for them and because my family butchers is a well established local company, I feel there is a way we can help too.”

The Georgia Williams Trust was founded shortly after the tragic death of the 17-year-old last May.

The trust’s motto, “Free Your Spirit Join In”, embodies the charity’s aim to enable young people to take part in the adventurous activities Georgia enjoyed.

Anyone aged between 11 and 18-years-old in Telford & Wrekin can apply for a grant of up to £250 and must demonstrate they will help fulfil the charity’s aims.

Three students from New College Telford were the first to be successful in securing funds earlier this year.
Richard Langton, chairman of The Georgia Williams Trust, said he was thrilled that G. N. Badley & Sons wanted to help.

He said: “Time and time again we have seen local businesses and organisations step up to support the Trust and show how much they care.
“We are delighted that G. N. Badley & Sons will be donating a pound for every barbecue meat box they sell this year and I know that gestures such as this are heartening to Georgia's family.

“As we approach the 12 month anniversary of Georgia's passing and the first birthday of the Trust it is so encouraging to see that the charity continues to grow and that Georgia's story is still very much in the hearts of minds of the people and businesses of Telford.

“We would like to thank G. N. Badley & Sons for their generosity and would like to remind everyone to keep their fingers crossed for a barbeque summer.”

The butchers was set up by Simon’s dad Keith almost 40 years ago and is now run by Simon and his mum Kay.
The new barbecue boxes come in four varieties, barbecue sausage box, barbecue box small, large and indulgent. They cost between £15 and £55.
The sausage box contains 3kg of sausages and the largest box contains four 6oz best rump steak, four 6oz pork loin steaks, four chicken oyster thighs with or without sauce, four 6oz unsmoked gammon steaks, 500g of sticky pork ribs in chinese or barbecue style, four half pound beef burgers and 500g of sausages.
They have been created after a series of meat boxes to be delivered to your door, launched earlier this year, proved a big success.

Mr Badley added: “We chose to launch these products now because everyone will be dusting off the barbecue in time for the bank holiday weekend so we thought it is the perfect time to be able to raise as much money as possible for the trust.”
