An award-winning ‘family rave’ Big Fish Little Fish is set to take place in Telford this September.

The indoor family mini-festival will be held at The Telford Arena & Live Lounge on Sunday 25th September, 2.00pm – 4.30pm.

It has been voted ‘Best Family Event’ for the last two years running at the National Family Arts Festival, and Big Fish Little Fish has been running regularly in London since 2013. They have also been named in the top 10 of Time Out London’s ‘101 Best Things to do with Kids in London’. At the heart of the events is a DJ playing quality dance music aimed at the adults, Old Skool scene legend Glenn Aston, who was resident at London’s first all night legal dance event Raindance is headlining the event, DJing to a crowd of around 500 parents and children aged 0 to 8 at the Telford Launch party.

Glen said: “I’m really looking forward to BFLF launch party in Telford, I’ll be dropping a selection of classic House and Oldskool rave tracks, it’s great to be part of something that helps to keep people of all ages involved in the scene, and introduce the music to a new generation.”

Glenn will be supported by DJ Rob Mathews who DJs regularly at the Telford Arena at the Rebirth Events, Rob said: “I’m really excited to be a part of BFLF Telford, at the amazing Telford Arena. It’s going to be a fantastic few family hours and I can’t wait for my girls to visit the home of Rebirth, come and join the family!”

The family rave includes a multi-sensory dance floor with club visuals, bubble machines, glitter cannons, huge bouncy balloons and a giant parachute dance helping to create the atmosphere of a real rave. There will also be a play area with tents and tunnels, a safe-space for babies with a ball pool and soft mats, alongside a high quality themed craft area with a colouring mural and a playdough table.

The raves were first brought to the West Midlands earlier this year, with a launch party at the Rainbow Warehouse in Birmingham in April, it has been the hot ticket of the year for families, tickets for the launch party sold out within a week of going on sale and three further Birmingham events have sold out since. Anna Emery who is the West Midlands regional manager went to her first family rave in Hackney before she moved away from London after having children. She has two boys now aged two and one. “My boys loved it, they were waving their little glowsticks around, loved the lights and the bubbles, and of course cakes, my eldest was happily in and out of the tents and tunnels in the play area while the baby was in the mini ball pool in the baby space.” Big Fish Little Fish was set up by Hannah Saunders in Brixton in 2013 “Hannah is an old raver, big festival goer and clubber” says Anna, “She was going to baby groups and finding she wasn’t doing anything that she really wanted to do, and it was all about the children, so she decided to set something up for families that both the grown-ups and the kids could enjoy together.” “They happen on Sunday afternoons so there’s no late night involved, they’re just about everyone getting on the dance floor and having a good time listening some fantastic tunes, and the sound levels are checked to make sure they are safe for even the smallest ears.” “I’m really excited to bring Big Fish Little Fish to Telford, I’m hoping to see lots of Telford Rave Mums & Dads letting their hair down and throwing some shapes with their little ones on the dance floor! I know Telford has a great history of rave culture, and I’m sure the Mums and Dads of Telford know how to party!” Hannah Saunders, CEO and Founder of Big Fish Little Fish says “Looking forward massively to BFLF in Telford. Pandemonium is the stuff of rave legend and we want to pass the rave baton on through the generations, see you on the dance floor!”
