8 Week Mindfulness Meditation Programme to reduce stress, increase wellbeing.

This 8 Week Mindfulness course is based on the original MBRS (Mindfulness based stress reduction) as developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn and is recognised as the ‘Gold Standard’ in mindfulness delivery.

Mindfulness has been proven to reduce stress and anxiety, increase feelings of wellbeing and improve sleep. Through mindfulness we can learn to:

* be aware of our present moment experience with kindness
* notice our habitual patterns of thoughts and behaviour
and how these can often be negative.
* respond to situations rather than react to them.
* be aware of what we are experiencing in our mind, body and thoughts.
* learn how to be kind and compassionate to oneself.

The course unfolds over a 8 week period, with an 2 hour weekly session during which participants are introduced to the core mindfulness meditation practices as per Jon Kabat-Zinn’s original programme.

Each week consists of group discussion and periods of formal and informal meditation. Participants will be provided with copies of guided meditations which they will practice at home. Mindfulness is experiential and therefore participants will need to commit to home practice.

By the end of the 8 weeks participants will have established their own mindfulness practice, developed new skills and techniques to deal with the stresses we face in every day life, in a kind and compassionate way.
