The society is the official town twinning society. It maintains friendship.
Anyone, of any age, living in Chard and surrounding villages can join our society. Its aim is to foster good relationships between Chard and Helmstedt and their inhabitants by organising cultural, social educational activities. Each alternate year one town visits the other, generally travelling by coach. We stay with a host family for the duration of the trip. When people from Helmstedt visit Chard we make every effort to find a host family for them.

A registered charity for Chard History, housed just West of the Town Centre in a listed building on a 1 acre site. Open from Easter week to November. A small admission charge for adults is made but accompanied children are free.
