Tills to ring for the last time in Swansea hospital shop

The redevelopment of Morriston Hospital in Swansea has had one unfortunate casualty.

The WRVS a mainstay for patients and visitors for many years will close this weekend.

As part of the redevelopment of the main entrance area the shop staffed by volunteers will be shutting.

Their lease will not be renewed as the decision has been taken to hand over the management of this part of the building to a facilities company from London.

The rumour is that they are looking to attract a large company in to open a coffee shop and retail business in the hospital.

It is such a shame that there will not be room for the WRVS to continue to operate as they have been a part of the very fabric of the hospital.

Of course with the strenuous efforts being made in Swansea to promote all things local the hospital seems determined to go in the opposite direction.
