The huge fundraising effort to kit out the new lifeboat station at Mumbles is nearly at an end.

The target of £136000 to be raised locally has just about been hit.

This has been as a result of the efforts of individuals, organised events and corporate involvement.

Apart from the fantastic fundraising of people who have been sponsored for just about everything that you can think of, there have been the big events of the year including the Swansea Half Marathon as well as high profile fundraisers like Nev Wilshire and the Swansea Call Centre.

The money that the local people of Swansea and Mumbles were tasked with raising will go towards the purchase of kit for the workshops and control room in the new lifeboat station.

This was a fantastic effort and just shows what can be achieved when everyone pulls together.
