Next weekend will see a celebration of Swansea's copper industry at Hafod Morfa Copperworks.

A large part of Swansea's historical prosperity was grounded in the copper industry.

A number of copperworks were established around the town during the industrial revolution and Swansea became a national focus for the industry as the call for copper became ever louder.

The business which then fell into a decline still left it's mark on the landscape to this day.

There are projects underway to see that the sites and buildings are preserved for future posterity.

Next weekend there will be a festival on the site of the Hafod Morfa Copperworks which will in addition to tracing the history of the industry also be a celebration of the contribution that the industry made to the city

There will be demonstrations of copper working as well as plenty of detail around the history of the business and how and why it developed in Swansea.

There will also be entertainment including live music as well as refreshments.

The festival kicks off at 1pm on Saturday.
