Swansea wind turbine plan becalmed

Plans for a massive wind turbine on the foreshore at Swansea have been turned down.

The proposal was for a 250 ft turbine to be built on Port owned land in the docks.

The Council have decided that the structure would have been too much of an intrusion and turned the application down.

The applicants originally wanted to build a 330 ft tall wind turbine - which would have been about the height of the Meridian Tower!

The turbine on the other hand would have generated a considerable amount of electricity.

This will be the dilemna in future whether to have structures that intrude on the landscape and amenity value of the area or opt for green sustainable energy sources.
