Swansea surgeon Dave Woodnutt is about to go on a voyage to join a clinic in Tristan da Cunha.
To get there he will spend six days on a boat from Cape Town in South Africa.
The doctor will be going to support a team looking after the medical needs of the population described as one of the most remote settlements on the globe.
He is an orthopaedic specialist and will be assisting in this field whilst on the island returning to Swansea in June.
