Swansea teacher Arwel John has given up the classroom to become a Gower blacksmith.

Originally from Pembroke Arwel came to Swansea to study and then went on to teach in the city.

He has always had an interest in craftwork and jumped at the opportunity to work at the Gower Heritage Centre looking after woodworking workshop and the forge demonstrating manual skills that are now rare to see.

He can link his teaching skills with practical demonstrations to really bring vital parts of our rural heritage to life.

This is a really great move for Arwel - good luck !

well worth a visit to the Gower Heritage Centre.
