Rock climbers coming to Swansea and Gower will get a lot of helpful support courtesy of mountaineers from around the country.

Climbing the Gower cliffs is a favourite pastime for a lot of the more adventurous visitors to Gower.

To help make the cliffs more accessible a series of bolts have been driven into the rock as permanent safety anchors.

The stainless steel rods have been drilled into the rockface by experienced locals with the permission of the landowner the National Trust.

The idea is that the cliffs which are a magnet to adventurers are now safer for those who wan to try their hand at this exhilarating sport.

Great idea - rather them than me!
