Swansea's Morriston hospital is to get a major new extension.

Plans for a four storey building that will cost an estimated £19 million have been announced.

The building when completed will house 500 staff including the specialist diabetic unit.

Building works are very advanced in redeveloping the entrance foyer at a total cost of £60 million.

This will also provide many of the patient services and will be partially open by the late summer.

It will be fully open for business by early 2015.

Redevelopment work for the hospital has been long overdue and the improvements will bring huge benefits to the local population.
