St Mary's Church Swansea is in dire need of repair.
Weather damage has apparently caused works that is estimated to cost £150000 to put right.
The lack of maintenance over the years has resulted in a lot of the stonework becoming porous allowing rain to further damage the fabric of the building.
Every year specialists are needed to clear the high gutters which become blocked with leaves. previously these were allowed to block and overflow and this started the decline.
The church in the centre of Swansea is used not only for worship but also for memorial services and concerts.
In addition the church needs to find £90000 per year in general maintenance costs to keep the doors open.
