With a £2m annual bill for clearing up litter the City Council are targeting city centre smokers by handing out 'pocket ashtrays'.
With 600 fixed penalty litter fines already handed out the idea is to stop smokers stubbing out their cigarettes on the pavement.
The council hope the initiative will help make people be more responsible and take a greater pride in their City.
