In this his centenary year a collection of poems and notes that Dylan Thomas jotted down in a scrap book have been bought at auction for over £100000.

The notebook was bought on behalf of Swansea University who will proudly put the exhibit on display.

The jottings were nearly lost forever as they were found by his mother in law in her house in Hampshire.

she had an abiding dislike for the poet and ordered the papers to be destroyed.

they were instead kept by a servant in the house who hid them away for many years forgetting about their existence.

They were subsequently found authenticated and put up for auction.

Good news for literature and Swansea!
