A memorial to the war dead was unvelied today at DVLA Swansea. This is a permanent monument to be a continual reminder of the servicemen who have given their lives over the years.

The memorial and commemorative plaque was the idea of Andy Twigg a member of the DVLA staff.

There is a movement to get all parts of the country to start planting poppies so that they come into bloom in 2014.

This will be the centenary of the start of the first World War.

Poppies and other flowers have already been planted in readiness in the grounds of the DVLA.
