What chance have criminals got - even central heating boilers have their DNA on record.
Swansea City Council were losing so many central heating boilers from theft from empty tenant properties they needed to take preventive action.
The council have started marking these appliances with indelible but invisible markings that are unique to each property.
In the six months to October 2012 they had 47 appliances stolen. After the scheme was introduced in the same period to October 2013 they have not lost a single boiler.
This is a fantastic initiative that means that hard pressed Council budgets can be used for more worthy needs.
What a great idea from Swansea City Council.
