Are the Swansea council buildings up for sale?

The Civic buildings that Swansea council has occupied since 1982 may be sold off to balance the books.

The headquarters is sited on a prime piece of land right on the foreshore.

The suggestion is that the council can relocate the majority of it's work to the old Guildhall building.

Of course that does mean that the library would have to be moved again.

Possible uses for the complex are a hotel or conference centre.

Other people have proposed that it could be turned into an arts and concerty venue although with other competing establishments locally that struggle to break even this seems a longer shot.

With a huge deficit looming Swansea city council need to take action but whether the costs associated with a move and sell off would make it viable must be questioned.
