After being recommended, I visited the Crown knowing it was a half decent pub a few years ago that served nice food. Firstly I was amazed at how beautiful the setting was and how fantastic the building looked. I had business lunch planned with guests who had flown in from Europe and the USA. They were blown away with everything about the place. It's decor, the gardens, the setting. It was a lovely sunny day (for a change) and the place looked absolutely stunning. My guests said that I clearly knew where to visitors to the UK to give a good impression - I obviously played along with this!
When we walked inside we were greeted by a couple of extremely friendly staff who showed us to our table. The room was delightfully decorated, light and open.
One of our guests had a very specific requirement and the staff took this all onboard and provided her with the perfect meal. All of the food was stunning and I'm quite disappointed that I haven't visited this place in the last 10 years until now!
I will be returning as regularly as I can (infact I've already booked to take my family at the weekend) and I will also be taking many more clients to the Crown.
I really look forward to the next time I visit; it is a gorgeous place with a really friendly but professional approach to dining. Top marks.

Large family gathering for a birthday celebration. Food was nice and service good. A comfortable and characterful place with nice choice of beers.

My Husband organised a surprise lunch for family and friends to celebrate my birthday. The staff were extremely helpful from the start and on the day were absolutely fantastic...cheerful, friendly and competent. The food was delicious and everyone, especially the children, enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. If you want a first class meal, friendly staff and beautiful surroundings then The Crown is well worth a visit.

Nice service and pub was immaculate inside and out. Great garden with wooden play structure for families with kids. My only observation would be to make the pudding menu more traditional and less ott. Give me sensible pie and custard anyday! Great cheese ploughmans with awesome pickles - just a tad light on the cheese tho.The place is immaculate. Spotlessly clean and tidy.

We were staying at a local B&B who suggested here for dinner. It was an excellent recommendation.
The location and building are charming. The welcome we received was very good and absolutely nothing was too much trouble. Lucy, the Assistant Manager, made sure that we got exactly what we wanted. She is an absolute asset to The Crown.

We recently visited the Crown for a late afternoon Sunday Lunch and as usual it didn't disappoint. The food was delicious, the setting is beautiful with a large garden and play area for my two very active young children. The atmosphere inside the pub is always relaxed and although they accommodate children fantastically it also feels like a sophisticated place to dine, unlike other you might choose because they are suitable for the children. Staff were friendly and attentive. Although The Crown is a little bit of a drive from our house it is always well worth it!

A friend and I were meeting for lunch in sudbury so i checked trip advisor. Wanted somewhere that was welcoming and 'nice' where we could get good food at a reasonable price. The secret garden was perfect and took us back to holidays in france. Really helpful staff and a relaxed atmosphere where nothing was too much trouble. We had a really lovely lunch and I would recommend that you visit - we will definitely be back so see you in there!!!

Excellent value French style cuisine using local/seasonal ingredients. Limited menu that changes frequently, with well balanced dishes: always a joy to eat there! Knowledgeable & friendly staff are always welcoming.

Not too tucked away, but a long-standing hideaway for the denizens of Sudbury, is the tiny 'french' tearoom with a not so secret garden in Friar Street. Our favourite luncheon rendezvous whenever we are in Sudbury - lunch and tea and the occasional evening meal. Simple French bourgeois cooking, everything is sparkling fresh, the service is great, the chef is very Français as is the 'front of house' - and at last they've got rid of the dinky little chapel chairs which made one's derrière a little numb after a leisurely lunch.
