The new restaurant is exceptionally good. Truly sophisticated French cuisine. Very carefully balanced menu with simple but fresh ingredients. The food is wonderful and the service is brilliant.

First, but not last, we hope, visit to the Secret Garden's "new" restaurant space.
A warm welcome, sitting in the bar for a drink and a browse through the menu.We ate upstairs, at a roomy table for four, in a light, airy half-timbered room.
All the food was excellent, as was the French red. Liver particularly appreciated, as were the little details - amuse-bouches to start, home-made bread, chocolate mini-brownies with the coffee.

A friend and I had lunch on Wednesday and it was brilliant. The wine was the best and the pea and mint ravioli sublime. The ile flottant was to die for. I cannot praise enough the service and food. Thanks again Stephan

What a fabulous surprise.
I believe the Secret Garden Restaurant has only been open some 6 months. This is a beautiful building, stylishly decorated and we were given a warm, friendly welcome.
The menu is fairly small but very interesting - I counted 2 vegetarian, 2 fish, 1 chicken and 1 meat main course.Nice choice of interesting wine.
Great presentation, excellent service and very reasonably priced. All the staff seemed really enthusiastic and keen to ensure we had a delightful evening. In one sentence I would say 'fine dining and great service'.

Decided to try the newly opened Secret Garden restaurant. We have visited the smaller Secret Garden for dinner and their wine tasting evenings and knew the food to be delicious
We were not disappointed. The staff were attentive and friendly. We had a relaxing, pre dinner drink in the tastefully decorated bar. As a non drinker, I believe mocktails are an option but these are not offered on the drinks menu
The menu is small but seasonal and I cannot believe you wouldn't find something to choose.I had the spring onion and asparagus tartlet to start and it was delicious. My husband chose fish soup. He isn't a Soup lover but wanted to try this and he loved it. He said he would definitely have this again.
I had crispy chicken thighs for main course. It was served with a salad, millet and date pilaf and a delicious garlic and citrus salsa that brought the chicken alive. I highly recommend this dish and would not hesitate to order it again. The pilaf would not be my first coice again. I might ask for a different choice of carb accompanyment as it was a little 'wet' and did not taste of muchMy husband chose the lamb. I did try it as we always taste each other's food choices, I was pleased I had not ordered it myself but my husband enjoyed it. He did say if we visited again, which we intend to do, he would prefer the chicken
Dessert, roasted rhubarb and vanilla ice cream was a seasonal delight and not too heavy after my meal. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his baked Alaska.Petit fours were nicest I've tried anywhere.
It is so lovely to have a restaurant with lovely food, in walking distance. We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening, at a reasonable price. We will definitely be back, thank you

Having lunched and dined several times at the original Secret Garden (glad to say still open) we decided to have a family and friend's gathering for our wedding anniversary at the new wine bar and restaurant. It turned out to be a great evening, as expected. All ten of us left extremely impressed by the friendly and knowledgeable staff, all three various courses selected by most of us (including a gluten free starter) and the recommended wines. We have always considered the other Secret Garden first class and this new venture lived up to the same reputation. Highly recommended for diners who appreciate and enjoy great eating and drinking.

Looking for somewhere different to try for a lunchtime treat with my friend. Very happy to discover the Secret Garden. Had the crayfish and avocado salad, delicious and as we had been so good we squeezed in a fruit scone with jam and cream in too ! Would definitely recommend coming, we will be returning 😍

Two of us had lunch in the original Secret Garden cafe. The place was quiet when we arrived but soon filled up.
We ordered Tartiflet and smoked chicken salad. The salad was rather disappointing as the chicken was of the processed variety, and there seemed to be a lot of water in the bottom of the bowl. It was quite bland, with a few olives and thin slivers of cheese. My partner said his tartiflet was tasty - diced potatoes with bacon and Brie, but for French cuisine, no bread (or butter )was forthcoming. The house wine, at £7.95 for a large glass, seemed rather expensive.
The service was good, but we'd try elsewhere for lunch next time we're in the area.
