Your new team member is keen, capable, and ready to contribute. Yet a straightforward task ends up taking all afternoon. Why? They might be struggling to organise their workload, or they might be trying so hard to get every detail perfect that they get stuck along the way. Or it might be they are struggling to communicate effectively with your customers.
For a manager, fixing the issue means knowing what’s actually driving it. That is precisely where Addvantage 4U’s Coaching 4 Impact programme steps in.
Designed for businesses that employ young people, including school leavers and graduates in their first role, the programme gives managers the knowledge, confidence and tools to coach them effectively. It also helps young employees recognise their strengths and identify where they need to develop. The aim is to give managers coaching skills they can use for years to come to enable young employees to adapt their behaviours appropriately to respond effectively to different situations.
At the centre of the programme sits PEP-Choices. Each young employee completes a short online questionnaire about themselves. The results show their behavioural style, quantify and their adaptability and effectiveness, and highlight priority development areas , like goal-setting, relationship building and teamwork or problem solving. From there, they create their own personal development plan.
This shifts coaching and performance conversations from vague feedback to practical changes in employees’ behaviours which improve their adaptability and effectiveness and benefit your organisation. If someone keeps delaying a project, you can look closely at whether the hurdle is, for example, problem solving, or how they communicate, or fear of making a mistake. Managers can then tackle the specific blocker instead of guessing what might work.
Addvantage 4U works with managers and young employees side by side. Managers strengthen their coaching skills and learn how to bring PEP-Choices insights into regular on the job coaching, making ongoing development a natural habit across the business.
For a growing company, this can make a noticeable difference. Young staff receive guidance tailored to how they actually work, while managers learn how to draw out the best in their people. Over time, that translates into better productivity, happier staff, and higher retention.
Progress can be measured by both the young employee and their manager. The coach can see whether their support is working, and the business can assess its impact. Remeasurement with the PEP-Choices diagnostic quantifies the employee’s progress and enables the employee to relate changes in their behaviour to changes in what they achieve.
