A little over two years ago, I suffered a fall down the stairs at home. Following ongoing issues, Kristine Hagon, my chiropractor, referred me for a scan on my neck, which revealed that two vertebrae were pressing on my spinal cord. I was quickly referred to a consultant at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital and underwent surgery to realign the vertebrae and secure them in place with pins.
Following the operation, I was unable to do very much for a couple of months. As a result, I gained weight and lost muscle strength and confidence. Once I received the all-clear from my consultant, I decided it was time to focus on rebuilding my strength and fitness.
That's when I started training at Personal Best with Martin Jones. Having never stepped foot in a gym before, I was understandably nervous. Martin took the time to understand my medical history, my concerns, and my goals. He tailored a training plan specifically for me and guided me through every step of the process, making me feel comfortable and confident from the start.
I still see Kristine every month and train with Martin each week. Thanks to their support and expertise, my confidence, muscle strength, fitness, and posture are all significantly better than they were before my accident.
A huge thank you to Martin, Kristine, and everyone at Personal Best for their ongoing encouragement and support. It has made such a positive difference to my recovery and overall wellbeing.
