Young people aged from 15 to 19 are urged to make the most of free job advice sessions from Southend business leaders.

These are organised by Southend Business Partnership on the last Wednesday of every month, between 4pm and 5pm - excluding school holidays - at the Tickfield Centre, Tickfield Industrial Estate, Tickfield Avenue, Southend, SS2 6LL.

Each 60-minute mentoring session is spearheaded by a different top Southend businessman or woman, who will offer a host of help for those applying for jobs.

Sessions in the past offered feedback on personal CVs, and interview role play, as well as interview quick tips and question & answer opportunities.

Previous mentors include: Alastair Welch, Managing Director of London Southend Airport; Rochford and Southend East MP James Duddridge; and Dawn Jeakings Manager of the Royals Shopping Centre, Southend, who also chairs Southend Town Centre Partnership.

Future 60-minute mentoring sessions will be held on Wednesday 27th March, and Wednesday 24th April. These are all free and group bookings are available as well as individual ones, on a first come, first served basis.

Southend-on-Sea Borough Council’s Deputy Leader, Councillor John Lamb said: “These sessions are a terrific free opportunity for young people to learn how to present themselves to future employers and how to make the most of their best features. “They can find out directly exactly what leading Southend business people look for when they sift through applications – an invaluable help for anyone who is seeking work.”
