Did I actually say Owl agility?! Well ,yes... owls completing a Dog Agility Course! And that is just one small part of what promises to be a brilliant weekend for the whole family, especially the dog!

The Robin Hood Country Show is by far the largest in the area, and is taking place at Garon Park, Southend on the 7th and 8th July 10.00am to 5.00pm and has literally got something for everyone.

The renowned 'All About Dogs' shows have joined the Robin Hood Game and Country Show, guaranteed to draw huge crowds both on two legs and on four, all eager to watch or participate in activities including Lurcher racing, Flyball competitions, Gun dog training and fire hoops. And for the family pet you can show off in a variety of categories including most handsome/prettiest dog, waggiest tale, best behaved, dog with the cleverest trick, cutest puppy (under 12 months) and if your four legged friend is not attractive, not clever, cute or well behaved, there is still the 'dog with the best fancy dress' category!

Also prepare to be thrilled and cheer on your favourite Knight in shining armour in an amazing jousting and stunt display from the Stampede Stunt Display Team. The team has performed at Disneyland, American Adventure and Camelot to name but a few, and you will be spellbound as they demonstrate their riding skills, jumping through fire, rearing, roman riding and a special demonstration of horseback archery.

And yes, I did say ferret racing!  Pick your favourite, and just for fun, cheer him on as they race round their course in the countryside arena.

There will be the opportunity to meet the aforementioned agile owls, from Berkley Owls, and staying on the theme of our feathered friends don't miss the beautiful, but potentially deadly falcons, including Harris Hawks and huge Buzzards as they present a professional display of speed and agility in the Flight of the Falcons show.

BMX shows, a paintball firing range, an inflatable fun zone, water zorbing, Have a Go areas for you and your dog, equestrian events and a host of traditional craft and produce stalls including Friar Tuck's Festival of Food and Drink, Maid Marion's Lifestyle Village and Little John's Craft and Gift Marquee - if you spend the whole two days at this show you may still be hard pushed to fit everything in.
