Swim your way to raising money for charity in Southend!

Southend swimmers are being urged to join a national challenge to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

The event is the Swimathon which encourages swimmers of all ages, to swim a variety of different distances at their local pools to raise money for Charity.

In this area you can join the Swimathon at Belfairs Swim Centre, Fairview Gardens, Leigh-on-sea, SS9 3PE and Shoeburyness Leisure Centre, Delaware Road, Shoeburyness, Southend, SS3 9NS.

Southend-on-Sea Borough Council’s Executive Councillor for Culture and Tourism, Councillor Derek Jarvis said: “Swimathon is a fantastic opportunity for all swimmers. It’s a great way to do something you enjoy and raise money for charity. “You can either enter individually or as a team, up to five people. There are four options which include; 5km swim, 2.5km swim, 1.5km swim and the team swim.

The dates and times for Swimathon are as follows:

Belfairs Pool

  • Saturday 27th April, 6pm 
  • Sunday 28th April, 9am 

Shoeburyness Pool

  • Friday 26th April, 6pm 
  • Sunday 28th April, 3pm
