Residents are advised that Shorefield Road will be closed at its junction with Western Esplanade for up to four weeks from Monday 4th March, for road improvement works.

During this time, vehicles are prohibited from entering, waiting, loading or unloading in Shorefield Road between Western Esplanade and Palmeira Avenue.

Access will be maintained for residents.

Vehicles needing to access Shorefield Road must do so by entering from Station Road and leaving by Palmeira Avenue.

Meanwhile, traffic approaching from the seafront will be diverted via Grosvenor Road/Station Road.

Vehicles belonging to Essex Police, Essex County Fire and Rescue Service, and the East of England Ambulance NHS Trust, are not affected by the temporary closure.

The scheme includes:

  • New and improved pedestrian island
  • Widening the south side footway
  • Upgraded lighting
  • Resurfacing the junction
