Southend Adult Community College Launches new 2012 Summer School brochure

A Southend college is giving adults the chance to achieve gold this summer. Southend Adult Community College has launched its new 2012 Summer School programme.

The three-week programme is jam packed with over 100 short courses and includes a number of new style art, IT, fitness and performing arts courses. Summer short courses are ideal for anyone who wants to pursue a new hobby, learn more about a topic in which they have a particular interest, or advance their personal development before the College’s longer courses start in September.

Beginning Monday 2nd July 2012, the new and exciting programme offers a wide variety of courses suitable for all ages and abilities. Classes are located at the College’s Belfairs and Southchurch Centres.

Rick Olver, Vice Principal said, “Our summer courses are the perfect opportunity to get into the mood for this year’s Olympics and Diamond Jubilee.  The programme includes a wide range of photography, IT, fitness and arts courses; as well as a brand new course that looks at English cultural heritage during the reign of Elizabeth II.

“For those going abroad this summer the College has courses in French, German, Italian, Mandarin, Polish and Spanish.  If you’re staying at home and want to indulge your creative side and embrace the Cultural Olympiad the College has Life Drawing, Ceramics, Textiles, Creative Writing and Performing Arts.

“The College has even included a range of courses for parents and children and is running maths and English revision courses for children 8 to 11 years old throughout August”.

Many courses fill up quickly so we would encourage people to enrol early. Summer School brochures are available from College centres, libraries and all major supermarkets.  You can enrol on-line at www.southend-adult.ac.uk and click on the summer school web-panel.  With low prices, concessions for the over 62s and those in receipt of an income-based state benefit; Southend Adult Community College really does have something for everyone.  Come on give learning a go this summer!
