SMART SPY CAR TO NAB ROGUE DRIVERS
Be careful if you are parking in and around Southend, a new spy car could be introduced by the council to nab illegally parked vehicles.
Councillors are considering plans for a car fitted with a camera which would target drivers parking in bus lanes, on grass verges and outside schools.
A trial which took place last year over 4 days concluded that 110 parking tickets could have been served.
Mark Flewitt Southend Tory councillor responsible for transport said "No method of parking enforcement is popular, but we get lots of complaints from residents saying we don't do enough to clamp down on irresponsible drivers and this will hopefully improve the situation".
