Lane closures – Victoria Gateway

Near side lane closures will commence along the north and southbound carriageways of Victoria Avenue next week to enable road improvement works on the Victoria Gateway project.

Paving works are being undertaken outside the HMRC building and Southend Victoria train station and are progressing well.

Work to pave the area around the escalator leading up to the Victoria Shopping Centre will start on Monday 31st January but the steps and lift will continue to be accessible.

Near side lane closures will also be implemented along Victoria Avenue in BOTH directions from Monday and will be in place 24 hours a day for the duration of the week.

This is to allow contractors to lay the new granite sets for the pedestrian crossings and allow them time to ‘cure’.

Works will also take place to re-model the centre island at Victoria Gateway. The Council appreciates your patience whilst these works take place and apologise for any delays caused.

Resurfacing works will take place at the Victoria Gateway junction from Sunday 6th March which will necessitate the whole junction being closed overnight for between six and eight nights.

Diversions will be implemented and local radio stations will be kept informed of progress to ensure motorists have up-to-date information. VMS signs will be utilised wherever possible.
