Older People’s Assembly seeks new committee

Can you speak out on behalf of the elderly?

Southend’ Older People’s Assembly meets regularly to address issues facing the borough’s older population and is looking for new committee members.

To meet the criteria necessary to be part of the committee you must be aged over 55 and live in Southend.

Interested parties will need to submit their applications by Monday 28th February. To access an application form visit the OPA website at www.southendopa.org.uk or call the Vice Chair on 01702-472174.

All 15 committee positions will become available at the Assembly’s annual general meeting at 1pm on Wednesday 2nd March in the Council Chamber at Southend Civic Centre, Victoria Avenue, Southend.

The OPA is also on the lookout for contributions to be discussed at their meetings.

The Older People’s Assembly seeks to have a voice on any issues that affect the well-being of the town’s older community.

The current committee of the Older People’s Assembly has worked tirelessly on issues affecting the more mature residents in the area.

Members have played a volunteer role in the community for many years and describe themselves as ‘retired amateurs’.
