Get computer savvy at your local #Southend Library

Somewhere in the back of your mind you know it is possible to get any question you could possibly come up with answered at the touch of a button.

You are aware you can embark on an all day shopping spree without leaving home. You may have heard but not quite believe that people talk face to face every day to friends and family, from Solihull to Sydney to Singapore.

This is the Internet, the worldwide web... exclusively for techno geeks and those born after 1992 right?

Wrong.

It's never too late to discover the wonderful world of computing. Believe me – you'll be amazed at how simple it can be... and if I can get to grips with it anyone can!

And to get you started, Southend's libraries are holding free taster sessions to anyone who is a complete computer novice and aims to offer people the opportunity to use the Internet, search the World Wide Web or send emails etc.

Open to all ages, it's a chance to find out about the range of free computer facilities now available at all Southend Libraries. Library staff will be available to provide free advice and support, with individual sessions lasting up to 45 minutes.

Sessions must be pre-booked but people do not have to belong to the library. The next sessions being held are at Southend Central Library (contact 01702 215011 ext 4123) on the 25th September and at Southchurch Library on the 28th September from 09:30 to 12:55.

These sessions are the latest in an on-going series of free sessions being held at libraries across Southend throughout the year. All libraries have wheelchair access.

Computing needn't be complicated, and can open up a whole new world of possibilities. And for those of you asking the obvious... 'if you don't do computers you won't be reading this' question, if you ARE reading this then tell your mum, granddad, neighbour etc about the Library sessions. The senior generation are the least computer savvy, yet stand to gain the most from the increased independence and range of communication facilities the internet provides.

With these sessions on offer at our local libraries, nobody needs to be left in the Internet wilderness.
