Everyone’s a Windsor at The Royals
To celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, customers visiting a popular shopping centre in Essex will themselves be treated like royalty.
The appropriately-named Royals Shopping Centre in Southend on Sea is giving shoppers a chance to not only enjoy afternoon tea with ‘Her Majesty’ but also win a limited-edition reproduction of the Crown Jewels.
On Tuesday 5 June 2012 – the additional Bank Holiday we will all be enjoying as we toast the Queen’s glorious 60 year reign – ‘Elizabeth Windsor’* will be tucking into Earl Grey and scones at The Royals.
And because it’ll be so much fun, the Right Royals Tea Party will take place on four occasions (11.30am at Costa Coffee, 1pm at Cafe Giardino, 2.30pm at Debenhams and 3.30pm at Utopia), and she will be waiting for loyal subjects to drop in and join her.
To be in with a chance of the winning miniature Crown Jewel set (including crown, orb and sceptre) simply follow the Everyone’s a Windsor treasure trail around The Royals – participants can enter daily from 26 May until 5 June – by simply collecting an entry card which opens to reveal a Portrait Gallery inside. Visit four designated stores and collect postage stamp-sized portraits of members of the House of Windsor then stick them in the Gallery. When that’s done, simply fill in the entry details and swap the card for a Union Jack flag at Sarah Beth Jewellers to be in the draw to win a replica version of the Crown Jewels.
The Royals Shopping Centre Manager Dawn Jeakings says: “The nation will be celebrating the Diamond Jubilee and with a name like ours, how could we resist getting involved?! It’s all going to be great fun and we are looking forward to welcoming lots of visitors, old and new, to The Royals. Just make sure you practise your bows and curtseys beforehand. I have been!”
*If anyone tells you it’s not really The Queen having tea in Southend-on-Sea - but one of her most popular and well-loved lookalikes Mary Reynolds - don’t believe them!
