The new thrice weekly service - which departs on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays - is expected to attract almost 10,000 passengers each year.

The inaugural flight takes off from London Southend Airport on 20 June 2013.

We are sure Newquay is going to prove popular with Essex travellers for both short breaks and longer staycations - not just for its surfing, but also for the simple and easy access it provides to the much admired Cornish coast. Destinations such as St Ives and the Eden project are now just 60 minutes flight time away, instead of a 6-hour car or 9-hour train journey.”

The announcement of the Newquay route is being warmly welcomed by Burnham-on-Crouch based travel operator Travelsmith, who have enjoyed a 50% increase in sales of holidays to Jersey as a direct result of easyJet now flying there from London Southend (started April 2012).

Sales Director Reg Smith says “The development of London Southend Airport has been a huge boost to our business, with our client’s clearly loving and taking advantage of the ease and convenience of using their local airport. We have sold holidays to Cornwall for 20 years, and so the introduction of flights to Newquay from London Southend will make this area so much more accessible and definitely increase our holiday sales – especially as our accommodation is just 5 to 15 minutes from Newquay airport. We will have packaged short breaks and longer holidays on sale from January.”  

The launch of this new London Southend to Newquay service follows soon after easyJet’s announcement of new services to Polish city Krakow and German’s capital Berlin, also launching next June. This brings the number of easyJet routes served from London Southend Airport to fourteen.
