The hunt is on for the borough’s best recyclers!

Cory Environmental, in partnership with Southend-on-Sea Borough Council, is keen to find residents ready to become the next recycling champions.

Currently Southend recycles around 48 per cent of all household waste, but this can stretch to meet and beat the Council’s 60 per cent target with the help of more and more residents rooting for recycling. This would put Southend amongst the country’s top recyclers.

If residents who already think green, help spread the word to their family, friends and neighbours, Southend can become an even bigger recycling success story.

To find out more, why not book your place at one of the free training events at Southend Adult Community College, Ambleside Drive, Southend, SS1 2UP on Wednesday 18 April from 7pm till 9pm and Saturday 21st April from 10am till 12noon.

Residents interested in becoming Recycling Champions will learn how they can become part of Southend’s network of green volunteers, and will gain the skills and know-how to spread the word for improving recycling in the borough.

With many local community recycling events planned right across Southend in the coming months, there is no shortage of opportunities to keep actively involved.

Southend-on-Sea Borough Council’s Team Leader for Waste Management, Imran Kazalbash said: “This programme is already very popular in Southend but we want to build on this success. We’re delighted that so many residents and businesses are already very committed to recycling and protecting the environment and we are keen to see more people come forward to be Recycling Champions.”
