£9m multi-storey for Southend Town Centre
A £9m multi storey car park could be built in Southend to kickstart plans for a new development similar to the Brighton Lanes.
The proposal has been revealed on the council's latest regeneration plans for Southend. The location of the car park would be in the Queensway area and would replace the council car parks in Alexandra St and Clarence Rd, these could then be redeveloped into a new shopping area of new shops, boutiques and cafes.
Tory councillor Mark Flewitt responsible for Southends planning and transport said "The plans depend on cash from the goverment, this is our long term aim however plans are really sketchy because we don't know where the funding is coming from".
