Jobs Fayre for Rugeley
Jobs Fayre for Rugeley
19th August 2011
Chase MP Aidan Burley has announced plans for a Jobs Fayre to be held in Rugeley. This comes after last week’s announcement of the first ever Jobs Fayre, to be held in Cannock on 23rd September. The Rugeley one will be held exactly one week later, on Friday 30th September.
Aidan was over-whelmed with the positive response to his organising the Jobs Fayre in Cannock, and has taken up a suggestion by Rugeley Traders Association to organise another Jobs Fayre, specifically focussed on Rugeley businesses and residents.
This second Jobs Fayre will be held on Friday 30th September from 10am to 4pm at the Rugeley Rose Theatre (Taylors Lane, Rugeley, Staffs, WS15 2AA) and will be open to all local people (for free!) from 10am-4pm.
Aidan has again written to local businesses, in particular around the Rugeley area, as well as organisations and charities, inviting them to attend. He has requested all interested companies with job vacancies to get in touch and reserve a stall, and spent yesterday afternoon hand delivering invite letters to businesses in Towers Business Park, off the Rugeley Bypass.
Commenting Aidan said: “I’m delighted to be able announce this second Jobs Fayre focussing on Rugeley. I am aware of the potential difficulties some low income unemployed people in Rugeley may face trying to get down to the Jobs Fayre in Cannock. That’s why I have decided to organise a second Jobs Fayre in Rugeley one week later, to ensure local people don’t miss out on their chance to get a Job. “This second date will also provide an opportunity for those who can’t make the Cannock Jobs Fayre to come along and see what job opportunities are on offer. It is yet another chance for local people to meet potential employers and network with businesses who are looking to recruit either now or in the near future.”
These Jobs Fayres come on the back of the latest unemployment figures, which show that the number of unemployed claimants in Cannock Chase constituency in July 2011 was 2,357. This represents a rate of 4.9% of the economically active population aged 16 to 64, the 310th highest of the 650 UK constituencies. The number of claimants is the same as in July 2010 and 19 higher than in June 2011.
