Wear it Pink in Rugby and raise money for Breast Cancer Care
7th October 2011

The Wear It Pink Day takes place on Friday October 28th and Breast Cancer Campaign's biggest fundraising event of the year.

2010 saw the event raising more than £2,000,000 and the organisers are expecting to do even better this time around.

That money was used to help fund vital research projects, such as the work of Dr Janine Erler, who discovered that by supressing a certain molecule you can prevent the spread of breast cancer to other parts of the body – an important discovery that could eventually lead to improved survival rates for thousands and thousands of people.

So there is little doubt that this is an event that genuinely can make a difference to sufferers of breast cancer – both those living with the disease now, and those who may be diagnosed in the future.

And it couldn’t be easier to get involved.

Why not simply arrange a ‘Wear it Pink’ day at your place of work? It’s the same concept as the old ‘non-uniform’ days at school. Everyone wears something pink to work, whether that’s just one of the campaign’s pink stickers, a pair of socks, or why not go the whole hog in an evening gown? And all you do is donate £2 to the campaign for the privilege. Someone in the office not want to join in? Set a forfeit fee of, you guessed it, £2 for being a stick-in-the-mud!

It doesn’t have to be at work. You can plan your day anywhere, simply visit the Wear it Pink website for details on how so sign up.

Also available on that site is details of all the good work undertaken by the campaign, and well as the chance to buy special edition pink products or simply donate to the cause.

And keep your eyes open on the Events Listings on thebestof Rugby to see what events are being planned in YOUR area.
