Following MP Mark Pawsey’s visit Schools Minister pays tribute to Paddox Primary School

Rugby MP Mark Pawsey championed Paddox Primary School in the House of Commons. Mark praised the work of Headmistress Brenda Oakes and highlighted the importance of head teachers in a question to the Education Secretary, Michael Gove. Responding for the Government, Nick Gibb, Schools Minister, followed Mark’s lead and added his and the Government’s tribute to Paddox.

This followed Mark’s visit to the school to see at first hand the great work being done by Miss. Oakes and her team of dedicated teachers and assistants.

Mark took part in a question and answer session with the pupils before taking a tour of the school.

Mark said:
“I was keen to visit Paddox School after they came 24th in the Sunday Times Top 100 State Primary Schools. After my visit last week I was so impressed by Miss Oakes and the whole school that I wanted to draw attention to their success  in Parliament. The importance of Head Teachers to the education of our young people is critical and I am delighted that the Minister for Schools added his and the Government’s own tribute to Paddox School and to Miss Oakes.”

“I thoroughly enjoyed visiting Paddox Primary and seeing for myself the high standards being set by Miss Oakes and her team and the amazing results being produced. I can certainly see why the school was placed so highly in a recent league table.”

Mark concluded:
“The school is a real asset for the town and is indicative of the high standards being set by schools across Rugby. We have many fantastic schools within Rugby and I will continue to do all I can to support them and teachers such as Miss Oakes who are setting incredible standards and doing an amazing job of preparing our youngsters for their life ahead.”
