The annual Beauty Pageant Mr, Miss and Junior Miss Rugby which raises money for charity took place at the Indian Community Centre, Rugby on Saturday 30th March, once again organised by Diane Slater.

Over 200 people applied for the competition and they were invited to auditions and interviews before being selected for the finals. 25 were chosen to take part in the glamorous glittering final

All the finalists took part in a James Bond opening dance scene and were asked to make ECO outfits from recycled products or use an old outfit. The outfits were all stunning with some being made from old newspaper, flags, duvets, bin liners, playing cards umbrellas and Xmas lights. Lauren Coyle 13 years won the best ECO outfit with it being made from old sheets and Xmas lights

This year the competition was supporting the official Mr and Miss World Charity, Beauty With A Purpose, which helps disadvantaged and poorly children worldwide. The money raised in the UK stays in the UK and supports charities like Make A Wish Foundation, The Royal Variety Club, The Children's Autistic Society and Local Babies Hospice Zöe's Place.

Junior Charity Queen Title was won Courtney Jade Bartleson 16yrs and Laura Smith 14years. Both of the girls were given the title as they had done so well it was decided to have two winners.

Charity King was Aaron Wachi.

The Charity Queen Title was won by Selina Singleton 17 years who plays Rugby for the Rugby Lions Ladies team and is now fast tracked to the semi-Finals of Miss England to be held on Saturday 25th May at Elstree Studios, London.

All of the contestants were asked to help raise money for this charity and the profits from the evening also went towards the charity raising £1800

Contestants were also asked to get people to Text vote for them and to get people to like there photos on a social network site. The people with the most votes were crowned Mr, Miss & Junior Miss Popularity

Mr Popularity was Aaron Wachi 22 years. Miss Popularity was Claudia Fuller 17 years. Junior Miss Popularity was Katie Rule 15 years.

The winners of the overall competition were Mr Rugby Aaron Wachi 22 years. Miss Rugby Lauren Grace Abbott 23yrs and Junior Miss Rugby Shona Mason 15 years.

Mr & Miss Rugby now go to the Grand finals of Mr & Miss England to be held in Torquay on 15th and 16th June.

Junior Miss Rugby Shona Mason won a goody bag worth over £300 and a modelling portfolio

Miss Rugby Lauren Grace Abbott won a goody bag worth over £500, a years’ supply of beauty treatments from Onyx La Rouge Beauty Salon in Railway Terrace and an all expenses paid place in the Grand Finals of Miss England.

Mr Rugby Aaron Wachi won a goody bag and an all expenses paid place in the Grand Finals of Mr England.
