MP obtains assurances from Chancellor about help for local businesses

Local MP Mark Pawsey gets positive news for Rugby businesses from the Chancellor

Date: 12th December 2011

Rugby MP Mark Pawsey questioned the Chancellor last week in the House of Commons on the support being made available to local businesses after the announcement of the autumn statement. After meeting with local businesses Mark was particularly keen to seek assurances that they would be given extra support they need particularly to access cheap finance.

Speaking in Westminster Mark said:

“One of the key concerns for local businesses is access to finance. I needed to seek assurances from the Chancellor that businesses here in Rugby, and across the country, would receive extra support from the Government when they seek to secure finance which will help them grow and prosper and which in turn will lead to job creation.”

Responding to Mark’s question the Chancellor, the Rt Hon George Osborne MP, confirmed that small businesses in Rugby would receive assistance through the national loan guarantee scheme in their efforts to secure cheap finance.

Mark concluded:

“At a recent meeting held at the new Rugby site of Warwickshire College organised by Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership, a number of businesses spoke to me about the challenges of getting business finance. I was delighted to hear the Chancellor confirm the Government’s continued support for small businesses in these challenging times with a scheme to guarantee loans which will provide the incentive for institutions to lend . This support will ensure that our local businesses receive the support they need, which will in turn lead to more jobs for local people here in Rugby.”
