13th May 2012

Another great free event happening in Rugby as part of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympics Games Celebrations!

Imagineer Production's 21st Century Godiva puppet (6 meters high) will awake in Coventry.

Powered by 100 cyclists, Godiva will then journey to London to celebrate the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympics Games.

The first stop for Godiva is at Rugby on Monday 30th July 2012 and the town will celebrate her arrival with music, dance and performances in front of the Art Gallery and Museum, Little Elborow Street, Rugby CV21 3BX

Godiva will then make her way to Rugby School for a rest. She will awake for an evening event with dance, where residents will have the exciting opportunity to see Godiva raised 10 metres high on her horse.

Pierre de Coubertin, the inventor of the modern Olympics - is rugby's connection to the games. He was inspired by Rugby School ethics and values and used these in the creation of the Olympics. As his visit to the school took place during the Victorian period, we are focusing our event on this era.
