Changes to bin collections will save Rugby Borough Council £100,000

Curbside bin collections in Rugby are set to change.

Thousands of Rugby properties will be affected by the schedule change, which will come into effect next month.

The changes being made by Rugby Borough Council will save £100,000, and ensure council tax rates will not have to rise this year.

No jobs will be lost in the changed schedule. One refuse lorry will be taken off the road and collection crews will be working longer hours.

Rugby Borough Council say the service will stay the same; just the schedule will change.

In addition to financial savings, the schedule alterations will also reduce carbon emmisions and fuel use.

Approximately 7,000 residents will be affected and those whose collections are changing will receive information on the revised schedules from Monday.
