Visit Rugby Town Centre on Monday 23rd April 2012 for one of Warwickshire’s biggest and most popular St George’s Day Event Celebrations.

The event takes place from 11:00 am until 2:30 pm and has been organised by Rugby First.

St George (England's Patron Saint), his trusted steed, dragons, birds of prey, crafts and medieval musicians will turn Rugby into a patriotic sea of red and white.

Come and cheer on St George as he battles with colourful dragons, created by local school-children. Dance to a variety of music, including medieval musicians, ‘Brandy Wine Bridge’. Alternatively just sit back, relax and watch an ancient ‘Mummers Play’ or one of the short performances by children from Northlands Primary School.

There’s plenty to entertain your little knights and princesses with face painting and fun and games with ‘Wally the Clown’. Look out for the ‘Birds of Prey’ and don’t miss out on craft demonstrations that include a pole lathe turner and basket weaver. Joining the colourful celebrations, for the first time, will be the modern ‘knights of the road’, as local motorcyclists display their magnificent machines!

When you are ready to feast, why not visit the Fusion Bar and Brasserie within the Grosvenor Hotel, who are able to offer you a wide choice of banquets…all fit for a King and Queen, and of course your princes and princesses.

If that does’ not whet your appetite how about the delicious Hog Roast available by The Big Red Pig Company? (Vermillion Restaurant's sister company)

Aftab Gaffar, Rugby First Director of Operations said:

Rugby’s first St George’s Day celebration was held in 2008 and since then it has gone from strength to strength and is now one of the biggest in the county. Businesses, local school children and visitors all come together to celebrate, as well as to have some fun. Events, like this bring thousands of visitors into the town centre, providing a great boost to the local economy, which is particularly important in the current climate.”
