Council to launch apprenticeship scheme

Rugby Borough Council plans to recruit up to six new apprentices, and is also to sponsor an apprenticeship at the Manufacturing Technology Centre in Ansty.
Subject to the approval of the borough council's Cabinet at its meeting on 6 June, the apprenticeships will be in 'Business Administration', allowing apprentices
to experience work across the council.
Apprenticeships in trades will also be expanded as circumstances allow.
Cllr David Cranham, Rugby Borough Council portfolio holder for Resources, said: "As a former apprentice myself, I could not be more pleased that the council will
be able to fund these six new apprenticeships from existing budgets.
"These apprenticeships in Business Administration will give young people a wonderful opportunity to experience a varied, interesting introduction to the workplace.
I'm sure that the demand for these positions will be high."
The borough council has previously announced its commitment to sponsor an apprenticeship at the Manufacturing Technology Centre, and will now follow this up
with the creation of a new Apprentice of the Year award scheme and trophy in partnership with Warwickshire College. This will be awarded for the first time at an
event at the Warwickshire College Rugby Centre on 15 June 2012.
